Chapter I – General provisions
Art. 1
(1) Mediation is a means of resolving conflicts amicably, with the help of a third person specialized as a mediator, under conditions of neutrality, impartiality, confidentiality and having the freedom consent of the parties.

Law 370/2009 to amend and supplement Law no. 192/2006 regarding the mediation and organization of the profession of mediator.
The Romanian Parliament adopts this law.
Art. I
Law no. 192/2006 regarding the mediation and organization of the profession of mediator, published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I, no. 441 of May 22, 2006, is amended and completed as follows:
1. In Article 1, paragraph 1 is amended and will have the following content:
“Art. 1
(1) Mediation is a means of resolving conflicts amicably, with the help of a third person specialized as a mediator, under conditions of neutrality, impartiality, confidentiality and having the freedom consent of the parties. “
2. Article 6 is amended and will have the following content:
“Art. 6
The judicial and arbitral bodies, as well as other authorities with jurisdictional powers inform the parties about the possibility and the advantages of using the mediation procedure and direct them to resort to this way to resolve conflicts between them. ……..

Law 115/2012 to amend and supplement Law no. 192/2006 regarding the mediation and organization of the profession of mediator.
The Romanian Parliament adopts this law.
Art. I
Law no. 192/2006 regarding the mediation and organization of the profession of mediator, published in the Official Gazette of Romania, Part I, no. 441 of May 22, 2006, as subsequently amended and supplemented, is amended and completed as follows:
1. In Article 2, paragraph 1 is amended and will have the following content:
“Art. 2
(1) Unless otherwise provided by law, the parties, natural persons or legal persons are obliged to participate in the information session on mediation, including after initiating a trial before the competent courts. , with a view to resolving in this way conflicts in civil, family, criminal, as well as other matters, under the conditions provided by this law.
